The mission of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, as a comprehensive academic health center, is to educate students at the professional, graduate, and undergraduate levels to become highly qualified health services practitioners, educators, and research scientists; to conduct research and creative activities for the advancement of knowledge through teaching and development of skills; and to provide continuing education, public service, and clinical care of exemplary quality.
Located on a 200-acre campus in the heart of Oklahoma City, the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is one of only four comprehensive health centers in the nation with seven health professional Colleges - Allied Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and Graduate College. Additional campuses and program sites include Tulsa, Lawton, Bartlesville, and Duncan.
As the state's major health professions educational institution, training is provided for physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, public health specialists, audiologists, physical therapists, and a wide range of other allied health personnel. Graduate student researchers are educated and trained in Oklahoma's premier biomedical research institution where faculty received more than $141 million in FY 2008 through training grants and contracts, and sponsored program activities at the OU Health Sciences Center.
With a budget of over $400 million, OUHSC employs more than 800 full time faculty and 2,400 staff. Approximately 4,000 students are enrolled in more than seventy undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs in the Center's colleges.
We welcome you to OUHSC and invite you to explore the many opportunities we have for you.
