Oklahoma City, OK -- Pain - a universal, serious and costly public health issue - will be the topic of July’s Neuro Night forum, scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 N. Shartel Ave. Refreshments will be served at 5:45 p.m.
During the event, members of the community will have an opportunity to speak with experts to learn more about the challenges of pain management. The forum is part of the Neuro Night series sponsored by the Oklahoma Center for Neuroscience at the OU Health Sciences Center, a consortium of neuroscientists from across the state that serves as a research center and information resource.
The forum will include a panel of three and their presentations:
• Robert Foreman, chair and George Lynn Cross Research Professor, Department of Physiology, OU Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, “Confusion on the Highway to the Brain About Heart Pain”
• David Garrison, David Ross Boyd Professor, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences-Physical Therapy, OU Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, “Imaging the Pain Areas of the Brain”
• Kenneth Miller, professor, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, Tulsa, “Initiating Pain: Sensory Nerve Fibers From the Skin and Joints”
