Melissa S. Medina, Ed.D. is the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation at the College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy: Clinical and Administrative Sciences and at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. A doctoral graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey, Dr. Medina joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy in August 2000. She coordinates several teaching methods courses and teaching certificate programs for faculty, residents, and graduate and professional students. She serves as the Director of Preparing Future Faculty for the Graduate College where she coordinates a year-long teaching methods course for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
Melissa was the 2009 Teacher of the Year, the 2008 Rho Chi Outstanding Faculty Award recipient, the 2005 College of Pharmacy Teacher of the Year, a multi-time recipient of the college’s Phi Lambda Sigma Outstanding Faculty Member Award. In 2007, Melissa and her colleagues were the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Teaching Innovations Award for their work on Team-based learning. During her graduate studies, she was awarded the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education dissertation proposal award for her work on using cases in teaching.
