Board-Certified Surgical Oncologist Joins OU Physicians

Surgical oncologist Ajay Jain, M.D., has established his practice with the Stephenson Cancer Center at OU Medicine. He also has been named professor in the Department of Surgery and chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology for the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Surgical oncologists specialize in surgical procedures to treat various forms of cancer.
Jain comes to the Stephenson Cancer Center from State University of New York, Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, where he was chief of the division of Surgical Oncology; chief of the division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery; and co-director of the Gastric and Esophageal Cancer Program.
He is board certified in general surgery and surgical oncology. His clinical practice focuses primarily on malignant and benign diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts. Jain also offers treatment for cancers of the stomach and intestinal tract and has expertise in robotic surgical treatment as appropriate.
Jain completed his general surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. While at Johns Hopkins, he also completed a research fellowship in immunology and oncology and a clinical fellowship in surgical oncology. Prior to his surgical training, he earned his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville.
Jain is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, member of the American Association for Cancer Research, Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, Society of Surgical Oncology, Association of Academic Surgery, Society of University Surgeons, Association of VA Surgeons, and the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.
