Ivonne Lira (she/her) has been an advocate since her son was diagnosed with a developmental disability about eight years ago. After his diagnosis Ivonne founded a Hispanic support group for parents who are raising a child or children who are diagnosed with autism. Her goal was to give the families emotional support and guidance, remembering what she needed after her son was diagnosed. She also wanted to support the Latino community by educating and raising awareness about developmental disabilities. It was this experience that led Ivonne to become a Supporting Parent for Spanish speaking families at the Oklahoma Family Network. She also is working with the Center for Learning and Leadership to produce videos to bring awareness to families and the community.
