OU Medicine Anesthesiologist Robin Elwood, M.D., was recently elected to the board of directors of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), headquartered in Illinois. The board consists of nine directors, each serving a three-year, staggered term.
Elwood currently serves as interim chair for the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology. He has practiced anesthesiology at OU Physicians, the clinical practice arm of the College of Medicine, for more than 25 years.
In addition to his work as a surveyor for AAAHC for the past three years, he has chaired its Accreditation Committee.
"The election of our colleague to this important leadership position on the board of AAAHC is certainly an honor," said John Zubialdi, M.D., executive dean, OU College of Medicine. "Dr. Elwood's presence on the board honors the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and the role it continues to play, providing exceptional opportunities for clinical practice and leadership."
The diverse scope of knowledge represented by its directors enables AAAHC to focus on engagement and growth opportunities across an array of medical specialties.
"Our elected board members bring a diverse set of talents, expertise and experience to our organization's governance," said Noel Adachi, president and chief executive office of AAAHC. "We value their commitment to improving patient care by strengthening AAAHC and fostering the '1095 Strong' quality-every-day philosophy."
