In response to the IDeA Program Infrastructure for Clinical and Translational Research RFA, the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center will serve as the primary academic health center and will partner with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board, Oklahoma Physician Resource/Research Network, OU-Norman and OU-Tulsa to form the Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources (OSCTR). Furthermore, we have forged affiliated partnerships for select projects with institutions from other IDeA-eligible states, including University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Alaskan Native Tribal Health Consortium and the Medical University of South Carolina. The OSCTR will provide clinical and translational research infrastructure to a wide variety of investigators who are committed to understanding disease processes and improving the health outcomes of people in IDeA states which have some of the poorest health ratings in the country. This 5-year NIH-funded grant award totals $20.3 million dollars.The aims of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Key Component Activities (KCA) are to enhance the quality and productivity of research conducted by OSCTR investigators by providing consultative and collaborative support in the disciplines of biostatistics, epidemiology, and informatics; to provide education, training and career development for clinical and translational researchers in the disciplines of biostatistics and epidemiology; and to advance the disciplines of biostatistics and epidemiology through the development and application of novel research designs and analytic methods.
“Development of a U.S. Consensus Document on the Performance of Endovenous Foam Sclerotherapy”

The purpose of this project is to conduct a systematic review of the published literature with the goal of providing quality improvement guidelines regarding safety and efficacy for the performance of foam sclerotherapy where evidence exists and to conduct a comprehensive questionnaire of those performing foam sclerotherapy in the U.S. to describe practice patterns and identify areas of common usage and methodology.

Lipoproteins and PEDF in the Vascular Complications of Diabetes

The major goals of this project are to determine and compare the relationships between NMR-defined lipoprotein subclasses and PEDF levels with cardiovascular disease, retinopathy and nephropathy complications in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
“Biostatistical Support for Tobacco Use Prevention Service Projects”
The mission of the Tobacco Use Prevention Service is to improve the health of Oklahomans of all ages and populations through community partnerships that prevent tobacco use among youth, reduce tobacco dependence, and promote smoke-free environments.
