Disability Defined

Disability is a condition that affects how a person lives their daily life. About 1 in 4 adults in the USA have a disability. In Oklahoma, about 1 in 6 people have a disability. They're our neighbors, coworkers, and family members.

The Center for Learning and Leadership (CLL) gives facts that help people with disabilities. They want to share details about disabilities in Oklahoma. The CLL wants to make sure people with disabilities are treated fairly in all parts of their lives.

Background on Disability Data

Information about disabilities is taken from three surveys:

  • the American Community Survey (ACS)
  • the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP)
  • the Current Population Survey (CPS).

These surveys all ask questions about six types of disabilities.
