The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry held its 44th Annual Scientific Day on Thursday, March 27. This event offers dental and dental hygiene students and residents the opportunity to present the culmination of their research projects. Faculty and area dentists and hygienists also attended, allowing students and residents to network and meet future colleagues.

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is pleased to announce that Mark W. Perdue, PhD, PA-C, has been appointed as the new director of the Physician Associate (PA) program at its Oklahoma City location, effective April 14.

Over the past year, researchers at the University of Oklahoma have earned approximately $8 million in National Institutes of Health funding to study multiple smoking cessation approaches, including the use of mobile health technologies. The researchers are part of the TSET Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC), a program of OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center.

Recent research from the University of Oklahoma suggests that survivors of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing carry physiological traces of the trauma, even though study participants have gone on to lead healthy and resilient lives. Essentially, their bodies “remember” the trauma even if they don’t have physical or mental health problems.

In years past, health care providers took a punitive stance toward women giving birth to babies exposed to substances like opioids in the womb. Today, backed by research showing better outcomes through an educational, compassionate approach, providers at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health have created a process for surrounding mom and baby with the care they need in the hospital, at home and in their communities for the years to come.
