Dress Code:
Standard clinic attire is most appropriate (business casual or scrubs; closed-toed shoes; esp. white coat & stethoscope if seeing patients directly). Within reason, it’s probably okay if a volunteer is a bit underdressed, but clinic administrators reserve the right to ask that person to refrain from interacting with patients (instead filling Rx, helping with pill-counting, etc.).
Clinic Descriptions:
We serve a wide variety of patient populations. Located in NW OKC, King’s Klinic has a variety of regular physicians with extensive backgrounds (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, Sports-Med/Orthopedics), and they love to teach. Dental is also offered on the first Tuesday of each month.
As a volunteer, there are several potential ways to help depending on level and degree of comfortability.
- MS1/MS2s: triage (brief HPI, PMH/PSH), medication refills, shadow & learn from physicians
- MS2/MS3/MS4s: those listed above +/- seeing patients (extended H&P, your A&P) and giving stress-free presentations to a physician
How to Sign Up:

Clinic Description:
St. Charles Free Clinic serves a very diverse range of ethnicities with our primary patient population being Hispanic (Spanish-speaking volunteers are always appreciated, but it is not required). None of our patients have health insurance of any kind; therefore, all of the patients rely on the clinic for their medical care and prescription medications which are provided at no cost through HAU and donations. The clinic currently has two physicians who primarily follow patients with metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia; they also take care of acute (nonemergent) conditions.
The primary responsibility of volunteers is triaging patients, taking a very basic history, and shadowing the doctor once all of the patients are triaged. Other responsibilities can be added on as the head nurse and volunteer coordinator see fit.
How to Sign Up:
In order to sign up as a volunteer, you must contact one of the liaisons listed above. We do not send out sign up emails due to the application process required to volunteer at the clinic. Once you are accepted to volunteer through the church, you will be added to a group message to sign up for the dates you would like to attend.
