Standard clinic attire is most appropriate (business casual or scrubs; closed-toed shoes; esp. white coat & stethoscope if seeing patients directly). Located in NW OKC, King’s Klinic has a variety of regular physicians with extensive backgrounds (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Pediatrics, Sports-Med/Orthopedics), and they love to teach. Dental is also offered on the first Tuesday of each month.

As a volunteer, there are several potential ways to help depending on level and degree of comfortability.
- MS1/MS2s: triage (brief HPI, PMH/PSH), medication refills, shadow & learn from physicians

Clinic Description:
St. Charles Free Clinic serves a very diverse range of ethnicities with our primary patient population being Hispanic (Spanish-speaking volunteers are always appreciated, but it is not required). None of our patients have health insurance of any kind; therefore, all of the patients rely on the clinic for their medical care and prescription medications which are provided at no cost through HAU and donations. The clinic currently has two physicians who primarily follow patients with metabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia; they also take care of acute (nonemergent) conditions.

The primary responsibility of volunteers is triaging patients, taking a very basic history, and shadowing the doctor once all of the patients are triaged. Other responsibilities can be added on as the head nurse and volunteer coordinator see fit.

How to Sign Up:
In order to sign up as a volunteer, you must contact one of the liaisons listed above. We do not send out sign up emails due to the application process required to volunteer at the clinic. CLINIC SIGN-UP RULES

  1. You are limited to two signups per month for the first 24 hours after the signup is sent out if the clinic has >10 spots per monthThis does include alternate spots, so you can only have 2 signups, 1 signup and 1 alternate spot, or two alternate spots. See the table below for the current list of clinics that allow 2 signups (subject to change based on month and clinic availability).
  2. You are limited to one signup per month for the first 24 hours after the signup is sent out if the clinic has ≤10 spots per month. Again, this includes alternate spots and see the table below for the current list of clinics that allow 1 signup (subject to change based on month and clinic availability).
  3. You must give more than 24 hours’ notice before your scheduled volunteer time to cancel. It can be for the most silly reason or for no reason at all except that you’re not feeling it, but you must let the liaison know you cannot attend so that we can let the clinics know. SignUpGenius is set up to send out a reminder of your time at least 24 hours before (some liaisons have set it to 48 hours before and you may be able to edit when you want the reminder sent), so it’s hopefully enough time to remind everyone when they’re scheduled that week (I know that reminder is basically right when you’re not supposed to cancel, but hopefully y’all can find a way to set the reminder sooner for your own accounts).
  4. Please contact the alternate, if there is one, if you do end up canceling. Again, try to give them more than 24 hours’ notice so that they can let you know if they can actually fill in for you.
    1. Not an official rule but a nicety – If you see a blank spot on the signup and alternates listed below it, please do not put your name in that slot. Other people have already gone on before and claimed any future openings, so it is extremely unfair for them if other people take the spots they were promised.
