Opportunities for Harold Hamm Diabetes Center members include funding awards and access to core facilities. A variety of funding awards is available to members to encourage the further development of their work. Award applications are evaluated on a competitive, peer-reviewed basis by the Harold Hamm Research Grants Committee. Additional awards, such as matching awards to other funding opportunities, will be announced if they become available.

SPRING 2020 AWARD OPPORTUNITIES
To support diabetes research, the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center will fund up to $2.575 million in grants for 2020. The Hamm Foundation requires a 25 percent match for these funds. The Presbyterian Health Foundation (PHF) has agreed to provide the 25 percent match. To meet the requirements of the PHF matching funds, applications will be submitted as PHF grant applications. All applications will be reviewed by diabetes researchers along with other PHF grant aplications for determination of funding priority. This Request for Applications is only open to OUHSC HHDC faculty members.
The following application process must be followed:
1) Fill out and submit PHF Grant Applications for PHF Seed, Equipment, Team Science, and Bridge programs as described in PHF Guidelines and Application Form.
2) Submit the complete PHF application along with a cover letter describing how project is related to diabetes to HHDC, Katie Hoefling at Katie-Hoefling@ouhsc.edu.

HHDC/PHF EQUIPMENT GRANT
Applications due February 28, 2020
Provides funding for critically needed research equipment that will promote diabetes research. Funding priority will be given to research equipment that permits OUHSC investigators to be more competitive for external funding and provides support to multiple users. The maximum request for equipment is $250,000.

HHDC/PHF YEAR ONE TEAM SCIENCE GRANT
Applications due February 28, 2020
Fosters innovative, collaborative approaches to diabetes research projects involving multiple investigators. The proposal must consist of two or more investigators, with the majority at OUHSC, who can develop a broadly based, multidisciplinary research program focused on diabetes. This program can provide funding for $100,000/year for up to three years with the 2nd and 3rd year of funding, if funds are available, based on successful achievement of identified milestones, quality of specified milestones to be met during the next year of funding, and submission of a team-type grant application by the end of the 2nd year.

HHDC/PHF SEED GRANT

Provides a one-year grant for new OUHSC investigators to initiate diabetes research programs. Secondary objectives are to provide established OUHSC faculty with the opportunity to initiate new unfunded diabetes projects and to provide unfunded OUHSC faculty funds to initiate a diabetes research program. This program can provide funding for $50,000 for one year.

HHDC/PHF BRIDGE GRANT
Applications due April 17, 2020
Provides funding to enhance OUHSC faculty competitiveness for extramural funding in the area of diabetes research. OUHSC Principal Investigators who have submitted an extramural application related to diabetes that was scored but not funded within the past 18 months and is requesting over $750,000 in total direct costs and over $200,000 in total facilities and administration (F&A) costs and received a review that ranks applications and provides critiques are eligible. This program can provide funding up to $75,000 for one year.
