July 26th marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark piece of civil rights legislation signed into law on July 26, 1990. The ADA prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and public and private places open to the public. It also mandates reasonable accommodation in the workplace and sets standards for accessible design in public spaces, helping to ensure equal opportunity and full participation for people with disabilities.
To honor this important milestone, a special celebration is taking place at
Oklahoma History Center on Friday, July 25th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will feature guest speakers and resources that highlight the progress made and the work still to be done in advancing accessibility for all.  Read more >
